Hi, friend! Welcome to the navigation page for Pawfect Partners, a YA rom-com.
This past summer, I struck a bargain with my teenager: if she did the weekly grocery shopping, I would write a YA rom-com. Since I rarely read romance, comedic or otherwise, this was an interesting experiment. After several weeks of hard work, I had a monstrosity of a first draft and infinitely more respect for romance novelists.
It’s definitely a first draft: lots of plot holes and bad dialogue and, since I don’t read/write romance much, it’s quite cringy! Feel free to laugh at the ridiculous nature of the writing. I have no intention of traditionally publishing it, but it seems a shame to let it languish on my laptop.
Blurb:
When ultra-competitive, high achieving Ava Barratt and Greyson Bertram meet, it’s not love at first sight. Sure, they’re both on the cross country team, excel in multiple honors classes, and love the rescued dogs at the local animal shelter where they both volunteer. But Greyson thinks Ava’s charm is fake; Ava thinks Greyson’s jokes are exasperating. Then the shelter falls into dire financial straits. Now they must work together to raise the funds to save the shelter before the crotchety landlord, Ava’s grandfather, forecloses on the property. Silliness, cliches, and first draft crappy writing abounds.
